Hideaway Bliss in The Maldives at Huvafen Fushi

After waving goodbye to PER AQUUM Niyama, it was onto our next haven of luxury, the hideaway private island resort of Huvafen FushiLocated on the North Malé atoll of Kaafu, Huvafen Fushi is a mere 30 minute speedboat ride away from the country’s capital, making the resort’s location ideal.

As we navigated our way through the seas, one question I kept asking myself over and over again was “can Huvafen Fushi live up to the ridiculously high standards set by PER AQUUM Niyama”? It was a silly question to ask really, as every resort is different and every resort has its own charm. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but ponder.

Before long, the speedboat began to slow down, which was my cue to prepare for arrival. By now, the beautiful white sands and turquoise waters were becoming a running theme. The weather was simply gorgeous and I swear turquoise never gets old!

Speaking of turquoise, the lovely ladies at The Turquoise Holiday Company, know me well enough by now, to know that I’m a lover of the finer things in life. They kindly passed on my memo to the management team at Huvafen Fushi, informing them that I love being serenaded on arrival 😉.

Jokes aside, this was the best hotel welcome I’ve ever received. I must admit, I was rather tempted to join the dashing gentlemen but, I’m not sure how well they would have coped with my vocal abilities 😉.

After thanking the lovely trio, we made our way over to the deck to meet our Thakuru Shinan and acquaint ourselves with the island.

Overwater Bungalow

If you’re looking for the perfect Maldives hideaway, then look no further than Huvafen Fushi. With only 43 bungalows on the island, every single bungalow is positioned to offer the utmost in privacy, in a truly breathtaking setting.

Mr O’T and I were allocated a sunset overwater bungalow and it really was everything we could have wished for and more.

The front door opens out into a living area which comes fully equipped with a sofa, TV, bar and BOSE speakers. It’s also separate from the bedroom area which is great from a space perspective. I particularly loved the glass floor in the living room, which is especially captivating at night, as you can see the fish and sharks swimming around.

The sunset overwater bungalows all have a similar layout and they really are incredibly spacious. The bright soft furnishings add a modern touch to a typically traditional wooden bungalow.

Now the bathroom really was spectacular and the jacuzzi bath was just wow!

I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that Mr O’T and I spent most of our time outdoors. With the added benefit of having our own private overwater plunge pool, we really didn’t need a better excuse!

You’re a little spoilt for choice when it comes to sunsets, as Huvafen Fushi has a wonderful array of bars to watch the sunset from. Fear not, I’ll give you an insight into this in a later post, but for now, lets talk about overwater bungalow sunsets.

I’m pleased to report that we did get to see the sunset from our overwater bungalow on one of our evenings and no sunset party would be complete without Champagne on ice!

Maldives sunsets speak for themselves and those pink and purple hues were utterly breathtaking.

Overwater Hotspots

As small as the resort is, there really are an incredible number of secluded hideaways dotted around the island, so it’s not surprising that A-Listers such as George Clooney and Kate Moss like spending time here to getaway from it all.

As a big fan of beach cabanas, I couldn’t get enough of them and I happily passed away the hours just lounging around and taking in the beautiful turquoise waters.

Huvafen Fushi is blessed with its own coral reef so if you’re a fan of snorkelling, you’ll love the sea-life here as it really is abundant.

All bungalows come equipped with private pools but if you fancy a bit of a change, then why not explore the communal pools? The Salt Water pool was my favourite and screams #overwaterpoolgoals!

That being said, the main infinity pool is also pretty special and if you’re lucky, you may even have a little fan base ready to greet you as you glide into the water.

It really is a beautiful and intimate resort. You really don’t need to leave your villa if you don’t want to and it was lovely staying somewhere a little more private!

That glass floor in your villa is so cool and I love the fact that you were serenaded upon arrival! What an idyllic place

I know! I think all hotels should greet their guests by serenading them on arrival 🙂

Maggie, so I’m just going to pretend my sink full of dishes that need washing right now is actually that turquoise sea & my messy room is actually that pristine over water bungalow. How utterly gorgeous. One of my favourite things about Maldives was being able to snorkel at house reefs so I am very interested to hear they have them here too!

    • April 27, 2017 / 8:54 am

Oh the house reef at Huvafen Fushi was amazing Shikha! We saw so many swarms of incredible fish and sharks too. The Maldives is definitely somewhere I could return to again and again and Huvafen Fushi was amazing!

Friends honeymooned here a while ago. Of all the Maldives blogs I’ve seen this looks like the one I’d like the most – just seems to mix the right things together well

It was really great Anna – absolute paradise and the perfect resort to get away from it all! I’m guessing your friends loved their honeymoon?
