Ultimate Spa Luxury In The Maldives At The World’s First Underwater Spa – Huvafen Fushi

In my last post, I introduced you to the idyllic resort of Huvafen Fushi, one of the most intimate and luxurious resorts in The Maldives. In addition to the pure white sands, crystal clear waters and gorgeous secluded hideaways, Huvafen Fushi boasts one very unique offering. This beautiful resort is home to the World’s First Underwater Spa!

There’s “wow” and then there’s “WOW“. Lime Spa at Huvafen Fushi firmly falls into the WOW category.

Accessed via a wooden walkway in the Indian Ocean, this jaw-droppingly beautiful underwater spa is as unique as it gets and quite frankly, spa dreams really don’t get much better than this!

From afar, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the spa is actually one of the resort’s private residences. In a way, I guess you could say it is. It’s the entrance to a temporary otherworldly residence and one which only those with excellent taste would grace 😉.

There are eight treatment rooms in total, six are located above the surface and two are below the ground.

The spa and the resort as a whole has been very cleverly designed. Other than at meal times or en-route to sunset drinks, I didn’t bump into a single guest. I did ask if the spa was busy and I was assured that it was operating at full capacity.

Housed in a completely separate pavilion from the overwater treatment rooms, the underwater spa from the outside gives nothing away!

Down below, the chamber was just as enchanting as I had envisaged. It’s also very aqua like which goes with the territory. Captivated by the glass windows, Mr O’T and I were utterly immersed in admiring the sea life in all its glory.

Words can’t do justice to describe quite how relaxing the underwater spa is and that’s before you’re treatment has even begun!

The treatments offered are extensive and are inspired by the surrounding marine life. Options include crystal rituals and ice facials, with a dedicated treatments menu for men. Unfortunately I couldn’t get Mr O’T to commit to a ‘Man Made’ facial or a ‘Sole Man’ hand and foot treatment but the bespoke offerings for both individuals and couples is impressive.

The spa products are carefully sourced from the pioneering luxury skincare range of Anne Semonin. This was my first encounter with Anne Semonin and I absolutely loved her body oils, so this won’t be the last time that I use her products.

After electing your preferred essential massage oil, which you’re asked on arrival, all that’s left for you to do is sit back, relax and allow yourself to be transported to another dimension.

If you love unique experiences and relish R&R time then Lime Spa is a must. The Spa’s signature ‘LIME Light Ritual’ is very popular guests. I didn’t get to try this treatment but I’ve been assured that it’s the best 180 minutes of relaxation bliss that you could wish for – think relation oils, sea minerals and algae-enriched ice cubes!

Have you ever had a unique spa experience either in terms of the setting or the treatment?
