It’s been a while since my last travel update so I thought I’d give you a quick insight into my summer bubble adventures. July saw me venture over to Italy for two weeks. It’s my favourite country in the world so any excuse to travel to Italy and I’m there! We spent a week chilling out in Tuscany after spending an energetic few days hiking through Cinque Terre.
At the end of July we travelled to Chantilly in France to celebrate my Father-in-Law’s 60th Birthday. Other than the cream, I didn’t know much about Chantilly before visiting. I must say I was absolutely blown away as it really is a Jewel in the French Crown. If you’re ever in the vicinity of Paris then it’s a must see!
After waving goodbye to family, Mr O’T and I headed over to Reims at the beginning of August for 5 days. Given my blog is called Planes & Champagne, it would have been a complete dis-service not to visit the Champagne region. Plus we all know I’m rather fond of the odd tipple of Champagne or two 😉.
Reims has some very impressive architecture but as cities go, I wasn’t overly taken with it. Having said that, I did love Epernay so I would definitely recommend staying there over Reims. In Epernay, we enjoyed a private tour of Champagne Deutz, an equally wonderful tour with Moët & Chandon and a very unique tour with Mercier. Surprisingly, Mercier wins the award for originality and you’ll find out why later this month.
It’s safe to say we were a little Champagne’d out on our return but we had two weeks to detox at home before Mr O’T and I headed on our very first cruise together as a couple.
Our destination was the Norwegian Fjords and our trip was in honour of my father-in-law’s birthday. You may have gathered by now that Mr O’T Senior is very much prolonging his birthday celebrations and why the hell not 😉!
I’ll be telling you all about our experience onboard the P&O Britannia next week and our voyage through the Fjords will follow later this month. One person I do want to give a shout out to is Lisa from Fjords and Beaches. She’s a fellow travel blogger who lives in Flam and a few days before our ship docked in her home town, we connected over Twitter. This is the first time I’ve met a fellow travel blogger while on my travels and it was so much fun to meet up and talk all things travel related.
I attended the British Style Collective 2017 in Liverpool at the start of Summer. The catwalk shows were fabulous and mum and I had a great time. I also attended UK Wine Hour Live which was held in Manchester and got to sample some wonderful wines. The next event will be held in November and this time it will be in London so look out for that if you’re a wine aficionado.
I have lots of exciting things to look forward to this month. I will be in and out of London a lot for work and towards the end of the month, Mr O’T and I will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. I cannot believe quite how quickly the last three years have flown. If you love a good destination wedding then feel free to check out my post which is all about our wedding day and 5 fantastic reasons to get married in Italy. We’ll be celebrating a little early as I will be spending the vast majority of our anniversary flying solo over the Atlantic. I’m jetting over to Lima to see my family and I’ll be surprising my cousin on her wedding day! I’m not sure who will be crying more…her or me?! It’s only a short trip but I will most definitely be overloading on the pisco sours, ceviche, alfajores, chicha morada and aji de gallina. Despite having a huge family, it will be my first ever Peruvian wedding!
I’ll be documenting all of my upcoming adventures on Insta-stories so don’t forget to follow along, especially if you’re intrigued by Peru!
What exciting things have you been up to recently and what do you have planned for September?
