At the start of the month, I attended a Champagne tasting masterclass by Perrier Jouët at The Principal Hotel in Manchester. Aside from sampling some of Perrier Jouët’s finest, the masterclass marked the unveiling of a new-pop in the city, ‘The Garden of Wonder’ by Perrier Jouët.
The Garden of Wonder by Perrier Jouët is inspired by the new Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs NV. The Champagne House’ first new cuvée since the Belle Époque Blanc de Blancs launched 20 years ago.
Situated in the middle of an 18 seater table, inside ‘The Refuge’ by Volta, the Garden of Wonder was easy to spot. For starters, the display was gorgeous and beautifully eye-catching, symbolising sustainable beauty, something which the Champagne House pride themselves on.
As soon as we sat down, I noticed a sign asking guests to download the Garden of Wonder app to their phone. This is a clever concept from Perrier Jouët as it gives guests a more interactive experience.
After pointing my phone at the installation, I watched the garden of wonder light up before me. In the blink of an eye, my screen was filled with butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and dragonflies. The only difficulty was capturing the moving display on camera.
We became so engrossed with the app that we’d forgotten why we were here – to drink Champagne!
After building up quite a Champagne collection, Mr O’T and I immersed ourselves and fully embraced one of my favourite past times 😂.
We sampled four different Champagnes in total, the Champagne House’ new Blanc de Blancs, the Blason Rosé, the Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut and the prestigious cuvée Belle Epoque Rosé.
Perrier-Jouët’s ambassador was on hand to talk guests through the evening’s selection of Champagne and the inspiration behind each cuvée. He also circled the room and spent some 1:1 time with every guest to answer any questions they had which was a lovely touch.
I have to say that this was the most fun and interactive Champagne masterclass I’ve ever experienced.
Perrier Jouët are rolling out The Garden of Wonder across key cities around the globe and it’s anticipated to arrive in London by Summer 2018.
I really did have the most wonderful evening and if you find yourself in a city showcasing The Garden of Wonder, book yourself some tickets as you won’t regret it!
