A couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed a fabulous staycation at Rudding Park. A privately owned luxury hotel in Harrogate set in 300 acres of gardens and woodlands. It was my first visit to the area and only my second staycation of the year, so pushing the boat out seemed apt.
Regular readers will know that I LOVE luxury hotels. I also love to research the hell out of everything. Luckily, Harrogate is pretty small, so deciding on where to stay isn’t too much of a mean feat.
The deal clincher was definitely the reviews I’d read of the hotel Spa, which recently underwent a whopping £9.5 million refurbishment.
With Mr O’T working away in the comfort of our suite, off I went to explore the Spa.
First on the agenda was the rooftop spa garden. It’s the first of it’s kind in the UK and it was a nine year project with famed horticulturalist Matthew Wilson. The aim was to create “a very special new experience for guests that relates to the history of the grand landscape found at Rudding Park”.
Well it’s certainly that! The gardens really are beautiful and a pleasure to walk through and lose your bearings in.
After a leisurely outdoor stroll, it was back indoors to change for the spa.
I flew solo on evening one which is just as well, as it gave me ample time to capture every element of the spa. For the first time ever, I was in no rush which suited me perfectly.
After registering at the spa reception, I was given a wrist band and escorted to the ladies changing rooms.
With my belongings safely stowed away, it was time for a glass of my favourite tipple.
We checked into Rudding Park on a Monday which was ideal, as there were minimal “day-spa” guests. I would imagine that weekends are very busy. If this hotel was on my doorstep, it goes without saying that I’d be here most weekends!
With a hydrotherapy infinity pool, a panoramic sauna, a spa bath, a garden sauna cabin, a herbal steam room, a foot spa and much much more, it’s not hard to see why Rudding Park was awarded ‘Best New Spa in the UK’ by the Good Spa Guide 2017.
I wasn’t brave enough to try the bucket shower but I did enjoy the foot spa and the heated hydrotherapy infinity pool. It was also wonderful having the pools and outdoor jacuzzi to myself.
Rudding Park makes for a wonderful getaway. The hotel grounds speak for themselves and the spa is exactly what you would expect from an establishment of this calibre – peaceful, serene and the perfect tonic for your mind, body and soul!
